2006-08-05
August 5, 2006 was a very active day, with Louise and I attending two stages of the Tour of Denmark and getting transported around a a lot
We rose around 10 in the morning, and were soon on the train to Hillerød where we arrived just in time to watch the finish of the 4th stage of the Tour of Denmark 2006. Now it was time to test my new camera's 1/1000th of a second shutter.
The weather was great, there weren't too many people and Hillerød is in itself a very beautiful city, so the journey up there and our walk down through the city was nice and plesant, and the stage itself ended with a thrilling sprinter finish.
First man across the line was German rider Olaf Pollack (T-Mobile), who received a well deserved applause. The most popular man of the day, however, was Australian Stuart O'Grady who finished 3rd on the stage, but kept the yellow jersey and the bordeaux points jersey.
After the race we had a bit of food at the nearby Restaurant Babylon. We sat just next to a team of Post Danmark employees who had apparently spent the greater part of the morning giving out free merchandise.
At about 1500 hours we catched a bus further north to Hornbæk, where we just managed to sit about an hour and a half and have a cup of coffee with my father and grandmother.
And then it was time for the second stage of the day - the time trial in and around Elsinore.
